oh where oh where has my xenie gone...

crisis at my house this am - xenie turned up missing. the rest of the house had a barbecue yesterday (i was working and had an absolutely stellar sunday - got the teen summer reading program ready to go, the new community information center up and operational!!!, and had a very busy, fun day - almost didn't want to go home!!)
well never thought to check on her last night - she usually goes to ground when there are so many people around (someone tried to feed Bandit bunny red onions - bunny with upset tummy!!) but when i went on the search this am she was no where to be seen. saw "evidence" of her in the pool yard, so scrambled around to make sure she wasn't in the pool (my greatest fear - she sees about as well as i do, so i worry) and then looked in all the doggy dug dens - including molly's behind the cactus garden - ouch - still no xenie.
got on the phone - where's my girl?? i had pictures of her stomping down the road and ending up under a car of totally lost.
well, she was in the duck yard - in the bamboo of course - snoozing. hauled her out - she is getting to be a big girl and put her in her soak tray - she was a thirsty girl!!

23 things

well this is not just about my life as a rescuer but my life as a librarian too. i have been working with my colleagues lately to spread the library 2.0 wealth. we have looked at "neat new things" - subscribing to a web newsletter - learned about ie6 to ie7 changes - created a "my yahoo" - learned about rss feeds - changes in office 2003. so now we are moving on to blogging and this is my blog. just listened to a webcast by Helene Blowers (from Charlotte mecklenberg). had tried to get in the day of broadcast but my computer was hiccuping after reloading realplayer (needed the 10 upgrade) all was well. unfortunately my office is like a meatlocker, so here we are huddled around my screen with a SPACE HEATER blasting in the middle of california in may. go figure!!

i've also completed the web 2.0:developing a successful e-branch course, but will carry on with this program so i'll be able to work with others on my crew. it'll be fun!!

here goes

first post - this is not a test.
love the new technology - found a friends new cat pictures the other day and found a great picture of one of his old cats looking very regal (which is NOT in the book of simoncat characteristics)
will have to get a digital (gasp - yea i just use the throwaways right now) camera to get photos of all the other critters - affectionately know as "the horde" - to go on the page
would love to connect with other rescuers - yeah all the babies are rescues - to get any new info on the little guys i work with - mostly ducks - pekins, india runners, khaki campbells - sulcata tortoises (that's xenie who is on the front page) - rabbits (have dwarf bunnies right now).
also have three dogs - the girls - mavis (shepherd/rottie cross - 11 years old- sweetpea), molly (deerhound something something - 2 1/2 years and a leaper), mabel(chihuahua/dachsie - 13 years, cuddlebunny).
and the kitties - trouble (silver tabbie, 5 years, mr mouthy), smokey (grey longhair, 4 years), pewter (grey shorthair, 3 years, was a feral kitten, now a mama's boy), and bk (baby kitty, tan, black, grey longhair, crazy girl, fearless, almost 1 year)
and the meeces - started with two, (abby and hollister) now have 7 (finally have them sexed right) and have five girls.

that's all for right now.
